Hakan Aydoğdu of Tezmaksan Appeared as a Guest on Bloomberg HT’s "Günden Kalanlar" Program

As a guest on Bloomberg HT’s "Günden Kalanlar" program, Hakan Aydoğdu of Tezmaksan shared his insights on the manufacturing industry. Aydoğdu highlighted that during the pandemic, the use of machine tools increased by 20% in the third quarter. Emphasizing the strategic importance of the spare parts within the machinery sector, he noted that the growing global distrust towards the Far East and China during the pandemic led to a shift in manufacturing demand towards Turkey, which resulted in a significant increase in domestic demand.

Record machinery equipment sales noted in the Last 15 Years Despite the Pandemic

Aydoğdu stressed the critical role of machine tools in all industries, saying:

"Whether imported or locally manufactured, every installed machine tool creates employment, production, and exports. That’s why machine tool usage rates are extremely valuable for developed economies. In Turkey, machine tool usage rose by 20% in Q3 due to multiple factors. The disruption in supply chains, growing skepticism toward outsourcing, and logistical challenges all worked in Turkey’s favor. As a result, we saw a significant production surge in key industries such as automotive sub-industries, defense, mold manufacturing, machinery, and white goods. This growth encouraged investments, leading to the highest machine tool sales in 15 years. This positive trend continued into the fourth quarter, with companies compelled to keep investing due to high demand, despite economic uncertainties. In the machine tools industry—which we call the foundation of production—business is going strong."

“We Never Cut Costs—We Invested Instead”

Discussing Tezmaksan’s sustainability-focused investments, Aydoğdu emphasized that they never resorted to cost-cutting measures, but instead invested in new initiatives. He stated:

"We significantly developed our remote machine monitoring and analysis system, which we call the ‘Zoom for Machines’. We continue investing in this field, and demand is rising rapidly.

Another key investment is our Machine Rental System, which supports companies struggling with financing. Instead of making large capital investments, firms can now rent machines to take on new projects and maintain operations.

Furthermore, in line with Industry 4.0, we established a new factory for robotic automation systems to strengthen Turkey’s manufacturing and competitive power. We invested nearly $2 million in this project."

Parkurda.com: A Star Investment During the Pandemic

Aydoğdu also highlighted Parkurda.com, one of Tezmaksan’s latest and fastest-growing investments. He explained:

"Parkurda.com is a machine-sharing platform. Across Turkey, hundreds of machines remain idle, while many companies hesitate to invest due to financial constraints, despite having major project opportunities.

Parkurda.com connects these firms through a brand-new B2B platform, helping them enhance productivity, find new partners, and seize growth opportunities. It acts as a network that bridges companies struggling with low demand with those in need of subcontractors.

We launched Parkurda.com just two months ago, and it has already gained nearly 3,000 members. The platform enables firms from different regions to collaborate—for instance, a company from Merzifon successfully partnered with one in Ankara, while a firm in Konya found a local supplier instead of sourcing from abroad. These success stories illustrate the efficiency and impact of Parkurda.com."

"Cutting Costs Alone Won’t Help Companies Survive in Today’s Market"

Speaking about the advantages of Parkurda.com, Aydoğdu stressed that companies cannot survive by simply reducing costs—they must seek new investments and opportunities. He continued:

"Even if a company doesn’t own a machine or needs a prototype, they can find solutions on Parkurda.com. We have seen many successful partnerships forming through the platform, proving that companies don’t need massive capital investments to thrive."

Expanding Parkurda.com to Global Markets in 2021

Aydoğdu announced that Parkurda.com will expand internationally in early 2021, stating:

"We plan to integrate multiple languages and expand into Europe and the U.S.. This will help Turkish machining companies explore export opportunities and compete globally in precision manufacturing."

"No Employment Shortage in the Machine Tools Sector—Transformation is Key"

When asked about employment challenges and minimum wage policies, Aydoğdu responded:

"There is no employment problem in the machine tools sector. In fact, there’s a shortage of skilled workers. The demand for qualified CNC operators is high, and many individuals without formal education can become CNC operators with just three months of training.

Rather than focusing on minimum wage concerns, people should consider whether they can build a career in machining. This industry values skills over degrees, and we have seen many high-paying success stories emerge.

Additionally, robotic automation is reshaping the workforce. Physical labor roles are being replaced by robotic systems, and individuals must recognize this shift early on.

Through Tezmaksan Academy, we provide CNC and robotic programming training, allowing individuals to develop technical skills and secure high-paying jobs within six months. The future of the industry lies in machine programming, robotics, and automation, and workers must prepare accordingly."
